Following on from the much plaudited 'So Bright Today' EP, and as a taster of the forthcoming debut LP, 'Embrace', Milwaukee's finest and most twisted hip hop outfit, with a little help from Altered Vibes / Battersea Park Music, unleash their new piece of black gold in glorious extended play format. 'Best I Can,' featuring rough & rugged guest emcee CC, finds velvet tongued Lunaversol 9 and verbose Jason Todd coming to terms with the obstacles in getting ahead in the music industry (and the world in general) in the Twenty First Century and having to deal with mediocrity and the acceptance of the package over the content. Bonus track number one, and forthcoming track on the new LP, 'Villain', questions the way that contemporary hip hop artists are perceived, and challenges the listener to re-assess their preconceptions and open their inds to Def Harmonic's unorthodox hip hop style that has as much to do with jazz or blues as it does rap music...to quote the track itself: 'the mother sent me through to ignite the soul flame; the one that used to burn from the jazz of Coltrane'. Bonus track number two is 'Polyvinyl Rotation', an anthem from the 'So Bright Today' EP, and here re-touched by the hugely talented DJ Phantom to provide one funky little keyboard led re-work of the drunken, sing-a-long Def Harmonic 'theme tune'. Time to get rotating!!'
